Silsden is an obvious choice for new home development. It is on the edge of West Yorkshire with good public transport links to Bradford and Leeds. Roads are not so good, at least once to the edge of Shipley. Why anyone would actually want to drive into Leeds down the Aire valley beats me. I did for a while, on two wheels and it was like riding past a car park most of the way.
Of course, new development needs up front infrastructure. If better access to the railway is not provided then it is pointless. Similarly a few more crossings of the canal. and naturally the supply of water and its removal with added waste needs to be suited to the number of people here.
Of course there should be a lot more industrial development and people encouraged to live nearer where they work. Then there would be less need to travel. In the ‘good old days’ people lived near their work. Commuting is a relatively new phenomena. A retreat from reliance on commuting would improve everyone’s life.
